4. Chicago Cubs vs. Cleveland Indians: Baseball. World Series, 2016

There’s never been a more fascinating baseball tale than the Chicago Cubs. They had never won a championship in 108 years, the longest title drought in American sports history, and had become loveable losers; everybody’s second team. The World Series was a dream most years as they made their last appearance in 1945. Add the Billy Goat Curse to the mix and the story couldn’t get any better.

To further complicate matters, they were facing a dangerous Indians team, a team on a quest of its own. The Indians were aiming to win their first World Series since 1948. They were given hope after the city’s basketball team, the Cavaliers, had won the NBA championship just a couple of weeks earlier.

On this occasion though, the Indians raced to a 3-1 lead and it was up to the Cubs to stage an astonishing comeback. And they surely didn’t disappoint. The Cubs won games 6 and 7, both on the road, to capture the championship and simultaneously put an end to the 108-year drought whilst breaking the Billy Goat Curse.
