24. Dog Urine is So Powerful it can Corrode Metal

Allowing your charming dog to pee on a lamp-post could be more dangerous than you’ve ever imagined. That’s because a dog’s urine – just like human urine – contain acids that can corrode metal. This became evident after Derbyshire County Council in England spent $100,000 in 2003 to carry out a six month survey of close to one million lamp-posts after it was widely reported that dog urine caused the lamp-posts’ bases to disintegrate.

 

It’s a known fact that dogs like to pee against something that’s upright and so you shouldn’t be surprised next time you see light posts crumpling in your neighborhood. Your dog could be one of the culprits.
