Avengers: Infinity War Shattered Records With Best Opening Weekend of All Time
Avengers: Infinity War has destroyed domestic and international box office records with an enormous opening weekend, raking in over $250 million in the United States and Canada and $630 million worldwide. This means that Avengers: Infinity War has beaten Star Wars: The Force Awakens (with $248 million) to hold the new record for best opener of all time!
The movie has put to bed any speculation that audiences are getting “superhero fatigue” with a stunning haul, despite being little more than half of a half-decent movie. Like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Twilight: Breaking Dawn, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, this movie is part one of two. Disney will rake another staggering boatload of cash next year, we’re sure. In fact, Disney’s really “competing” with their own films for the top spot. After all, Infinity War beat out Disney’s other globe-trotting franchise, Star Wars. (Adjusted for inflation, Star Wars still holds the title.)
Ultimately, opening weekends don’t mean much and these numbers don’t include China! We’re sure Disney is thrilled.
