Beyoncé and Jay-Z Drop Surprise Album!

Shelby Chau / June 18, 2018

Beyoncé broke the Internet (again) last weekend when she dropped a surprise album on Tidal. This reminds us of a more innocent time back in 2013, when it seemed like it was still possible to make lemonade out of lemons, and Beyoncé became “Beyoncé”—a name only to be spoken in a tone of awed finality.

This time, Beyoncé has released a collaboration with her husband, Jay-Z, called Everything is Love. The album is a triumphal rejection to the rumors of infidelity and marital strife that circled around the Carters before and during the release of Lemonade and 4:44. It debuted as an exclusive on Tidal and is now also available for paying members of Apple Music and Spotify. The 40-minute album has nine tracks and features a music video for “APES**T” by The Carters, available on YouTube.

Check it out while we wait for the rest of the album to appear from behind the paywalls, deigning to slum it with the rest of us plebeians. (We would encourage anyone to grab a subscription to Tidal if you want to join the true fans.)
