Cars 3 Trailer Is Darker Than Anyone Expected

Steve Porter / April 29, 2017

Cars 3 is an upcoming animated adventure-comedy-drama based around a world filled with anthropomorphic vehicles, and centers around veteran racer, Lightning McQueen.

The Trailer starts off intense and serious with McQueen’s agent talking about the severity of his losses and how it damages his brand, and takes a turn for the worse (literally) as the hero race car tumbles and has a devastating crash.

With the legendary and famous racer, Lightning McQueen (voiced by Owen Wilson) suffering losses to new racer Jackson Storm (voiced by Armie Hammer), and a severe crash, many wonder if Mcqueen will retire from his racing career. In the face of doubt and adversity, Lightning sets out to prove to everyone that he can still compete and be the best.

The trailer eventually turns more hopeful, as Lightning must work his bumper off to prepare for a ‘David vs. Goliath’ type race, needing to outsmart his opponent instead. The trailer ends off addressing the importance of hard work, effort, taking initiative and purpose.
