First Look at ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’

Steve Porter / September 13, 2018

Sabrina the Teenaged Witch looks very spooky in the first trailer for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix. The new series is a long way from the family-friendly sitcom that aired from 1996-2003; instead, Chilling Adventures is based on the blood-soaked comics by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Aguirre-Sacasa has reimagined the plucky teenaged witch as a young woman torn between light and dark, between a mortal life and the literal touch of Satan.

The new series stars Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men) as Sabrina Spellman. On her sixteenth birthday “something wicked this way comes,” and Sabrina is forced to choose between being a witch—and a Bride of Satan—or losing her powers and living a regular mortal life. The new trailer emphasizes that twisted origin of her powers and the sinister world of witchcraft—rife with demons, satanic rituals, blood, and murder. Well, it’s a better fit with the uncanny world of Netflix’s Riverdale. It’s definitely going to be…chilling.

The show stars Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina, Lucy Davis and Miranda Otto as her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, Richard Coyle as Father Blackwood, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, and Tati Gabrielle as Sabrina’s rival, Prudence.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina starts their first satanic ritual on Netflix on October 26. Netflix has already ordered two ten-episode seasons.
