Steve Porter / October 18, 2018

The soundtrack for A Star Is Born hit the number one spot on the Billboard 200 this week, marking a major milestone for Lady Gaga and a testament to the film’s sweeping musical journey through country, R&B, rock, and pop. The soundtrack is credited to Lady Gaga and co-star Bradley Cooper, making Gaga the only woman to have five albums at the top of the Billboard domestic charts this decade.

A Star Is Born is Lady Gaga’s firth album to hit the top of the charts since 2010, following her iconic Born This Way in 2011, Artpop in 2013, Cheek to Cheek in 2014, and Joanne in 2016. Gaga joins Future, J.Cole, and Kanye West with five No. 1 albums, bested only by Justin Bieber with six and Drake with an incredible eight chart-breaking albums.

The album’s leading single, “Shallow,” had already cracked the Billboard Top 40 and the film is expected to lead the category for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards. The album features a collection of original songs written for the film by Gaga, Cooper, and collaborators including Lukas Nelson, Nick Monson, songwriters Diane Warren, Hillary Lindsey, Jason Isbell, and Andrew Wyatt, and producers from Gaga’s previous albums Mark Nilan Jr., Mark Ronson, and DJ White Shadow.

A Star Is Born is now rocking out in theaters.
