“Mowgli” Promises a Bittersweet Ending to The Jungle Book: TRAILER
Warner Bros. reveals a new version of the iconic children’s classic by Rudyard Kipling, The Jungle Book, in this trailer for Mowgli—promising a bittersweet ending for the tale of a boy raised by wolves. Created using a blend of live action and motion capture, Mowgli features an all-star cast of talent under the direction of Andy Serkis—the man who pioneered mo-cap in The Lord of the Rings and Planet of the Apes.
The upcoming film is rooted in a familiar story: a young boy, Mowgli, is abandoned in the jungle and raised by wolves. He befriends a bear (Baloo) and a panther (Bagheera) and faces off against a terrifying tiger (Shere Khan). Mowgli adds a dark twist, however; what happens when the boy is returned to his own kind? Can he truly have one foot in both worlds and protect his former friends from the depredations of man?
Disney has already had an incredible success reimagining the animated version of the story in 2016, but Mowgli wants to tell a new version of this childhood fable. Mowgli stars Christian Bale as Bagheera, Cate Blanchett as Kaa, Benedict Cumberbath at Shere Khan, Andy Serkis as Baloo, and the talents of Naomi Harris, Freida Pinto, and Mathew Rhyss. Rohan Chand has a simmering intensity as Mowgli, the boy caught between two worlds. Check out the trailer below!
Mowgli is in theaters October 19.
