New Teaser for Matt Groening’s “Disenchantment”

Ben Migono / July 4, 2018

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for Disenchantment, a new animated television series from legendary creator Matt Groening. This is the first new show from Matt Groening in over twenty years, but fans of The Simpsons and Futurama will recognize the show’s distinctive style and a few of the voice actors behind the microphone!

Set in a fantasy kingdom in ‘Ye Olden Times,’ Disenchantment completes a trilogy of sorts for Groening. We’ve seen Groening and Co.’s satirical take on Middle America in The Simpsons and science fiction in Futurama. Now, his new show will poke fun at our ideas about fantasy like elves, dwarves, dragons, and barbarians.

We get out first good look at the animation and setting in the latest teaser trailer, revealing a little of the layout of the dilapidated kingdom of “Dreamland.” The show looks like it uses more 3D CGI, allowing the camera to move around the village and castle in a different way. Check it out!

Disenchantment features the voices of Abbi Jacobson (Broad City and BoJack Horseman) as Princess Bean, Nat Faxon (Friends From College and American Dad) as Elfo the Elf, and Eric Andre (Man Seeking Woman) as the demon Luci. The rest of the cast is a roundup of voice talent from The Simpsons and Futurama, including John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.

Disenchantment airs on Netflix on August 17.
