Pixar Dropped The Trailer For CoCo And It Looks Awesome!

Steve Porter / April 3, 2017

Coco is the latest film from the animation studios over at Disney and Pixar. The film is set for release on the 22nd of November, 2017. This adventure comedy is written and co-directed by Adrian Molina. Alongside Molina in the director’s chair, we’ve got Lee Unkrich (Toy Story 2&3 / Monsters Inc.) The film stars the voice talent of Benjamin Bratt, Gael Garcia Bernal, Renee Victor, and Anthony Gonzalez. There’s also some interesting facts about Coco leading up to its release. Firstly, it will debut on the 22nd anniversary of Pixar’s first film, Toy Story (1995). Secondly, Coco will be the first musical for Pixar. Lastly, it will be the first animated feature film to have a person of color as the main character.

The story of Coco follows Miguel, a 12-year old boy that sets in motion a chain of events related to an ancient mystery. The journey and adventure leads Miguel to an extraordinary family reunion.

From the trailer alone I got a few Wall-E vibes from the scene where Miguel watches the video of the musician on the black and white television in his shack with all his little keepsakes and trinkets. The animation looks stunning and the cartoonish elements mixed with hyper realism blend very nicely. We’re sure Coco will be fun for the whole family and we are looking forward to its release.
