‘The Simpsons’ Next “Treehouse of Horror” is Episode 666

Steve Porter / October 19, 2018

Every year, The Simpsons airs the “Treehouse of Horror,” an anthology episode of Halloween-themed madness. This year’s instalment, “Treehouse of Horror XXIX,” will feature Cthulhu, Jurassic Park, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and The Three Faces of Eve. But next year’s episode marks a spooky milestone for The Simpsons: Episode No. 666!

Executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly that 2019’s “Treehouse of Horror” will air as episode 666, as planned in 1989. If that’s true it’s quite a feat of scheduling ingenuity, but given everything that’s happened over the years we’re sure that Al Jean is pulling our leg. In either case, the episode will be another milestone for The Simpsons—the longest-running primetime scripted series ever. We can only wonder what terrifying gags the show has in store for episode 666.

You can still watch The Simpsons Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
