Would You Get a PS4 If There Was a Price Drop?

Steve Porter / August 10, 2017

If you’re still in the market for a PlayStation 4, you might just be in luck. Recently, online retailers have reduced their prices for a ‘slim’ model of the popular PS4 console.

While normally priced at $299, many online retailers have cut the cost to $279, while some have even slashed it further to $269 as can be seen at Walmart and Target. This could be a ploy to take advantage of some upcoming exclusives for the PS4, but a long-term discount isn’t out of the question.

The discount in question refers to the PS4 bundle which includes a 500GB PlayStation 4 Slim with a controller and a copy of Unchartered 4. If you’re looking for a PS4 Pro or a 1TB PS4 Slim, you’re out of luck for now. Those are still $399 and $299, respectively.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this model go sale. In fact, Sony even dropped the bundle down to $250 during 2016’s Black Friday and even this year for multiple weeks in February. These discounts usually tie in to one of two things: a holiday, or the launch of a big title. In this case, we’re leaning towards the upcoming release of Sony’s next big exlusive: Uncharted: The Lost Legacy which is launching on August 22.

Not a bad way to get consoles into people’s hands so they can play the next new game is it?
