Airtight Seal Keeps Food Staying Fresh For Longer

Diana Rolland / December 26, 2016

Sometimes after cutting up fruits and vegetables, we can’t always finish them, like cutting up lemons, limes, tomatoes, or kiwis. So we often wrap the leftovers in saran wrap, but since they’ve already been exposed to air, they don’t usually last too long once they’ve been cut.

However we can now save our leftover fruits and vegetables with Food Huggers.

These colorful, easy to use tools are the best way to help you preserve your fresh foods, and keep them lasting longer. As well, these will help reduce a lot of household waste, like plastic saran wrap.

Food huggers are made out of silicon, which wrap around your leftover fruits and vegetables, which then create a seal that’s airtight, the key to preserving your unfinished foods.

These silicon covers take care of avocados, apples, kiwis, lemons, limes, oranges, peppers, onions, cucumbers, bananas and more.

Not only that, but they work great as airtight seals for any jars, containers, or cans.

This all began with the friendship and partnership of industrial designer, Michelle and marketer and strategist, Adrienne who teamed up 15 years ago. Their mission is to come up with tools that maximize the enjoyment and nutrition from the groceries you buy, and to minimize the amount of wasted food.

Over the years, after creating many projects and products for the home, they launched Food Huggers as a Kickstarter in 2013. The Food Huggers initiative was aimed at reducing the amount of spoilage of fruits and vegetables, so they can be enjoyed over a longer period of time. Seeing lots of success, they also created Bowl Huggers, which turn regular bowls into airtight storage containers for food, keeping leftover food lasting longer.
