Alicia Keys Is A Master at Musical Impressions

Shelby Chau / March 2, 2017

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, we were gifted with lovely guest, singer, songwriter, and pianist, Alicia Keys. The New York native returned home after filming for The Voice, which she’s one of the judges for, to join Jimmy Fallon and share a couple of stories.

As a mother of two boys, Egypt, age 6 and Genesis age 5, she shared a little bit about parenting. She specifically mentioned how her sons are at the age where they aren’t afraid to speak their minds. Even telling her that other vocalists are better than she is!

It’s all for fun though, and it’s understandable that kids sometimes say the darndest things, but the flawless 36 year old took it like a champ. She also shared that her son produced some beats for Kendrick Lamar.

Alicia later on told Jimmy a story of the time she had to call Prince, because she needed his permission in order to cover one of his songs. Her reactions of the exchange are just so genuine and funny. You can see it in the video below.

Finally, the pair took part in Musical Impressions, where they each take turns having to perform a randomly designated song, sung in the style of a randomly assigned artist. While Jimmy did some hilarious impressions of The Pointer Sisters and Elvis Presley, Alicia Keys absolutely killed her impressions, not only just the voices but also the stage presences of Gwen Stefani, Adele and Janis Joplin. Watch it all below.
