Big Bang Theory Cast Take Pay Cuts To Help Co-stars’ Salaries

Shelby Chau / March 2, 2017

Listen, you don’t get to 10 seasons of a sitcom without it being good. And for a show to be good, a lot of it rests on the shoulders of its characters. For CBS’ hit comedy series, The Big Bang Theory, 5 of the 7 main characters are taking pay cuts to help the remaining two get raises in their next contract. You may know them as Bernadette and Amy, played by Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik, respectively.

If CBS decides to extend the series another couple of seasons, Rauch and Bialik will be looking for more money, and seriously, they should. They’ve become regulars on the show since joining the cast in the 3rd season and stayed on permanently in the 4th.

When the show first started Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), and Jim Parsons (Sheldon) were the main stars and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) and Simon Helberg (Howard) were supporting stars. Nayyar and Helberd were able to reach an agreement just last season which brought all five performers to seven-figure parity heading into season 10.

Whether Rauch and Bialik can negotiate a similar deal to reach parity with the other stars is uncertain, $500,000 has been freed by the others ($100,000 pay cut by each member). This means Rauch and Bialik would each get $250,000 more per episode, which currently sits at only $200,000 per episode. While $450,000 isn’t a bad pay day, the other stars are making $1 million each episode, quite the disparity if you ask me.

If the network is looking at extending the series, they might have to pay up. At least we know the Big Bang cast like each other.
