Charlie Hunnam & Tom Holland Star In “The Lost City Of Z”
This action-adventure-biographical-drama premiered at the New York Film Festival on the October 15th, 2016, and will get an international theatrical release on the 14th of April, 2017. The film as a 7.3 out of 10 on IMDB based on the votes of nearly 500 members. It has a total run time of 141 minutes (or 2 hours and 21 minutes).
Written and directed by James Gray, the film is based on the book published in 2009 titled “The Lost City Of Z: A Tale Of Deadly Obsession In The Amazon,” which was written by David Grann. The film stars Charlie Hunnam as Fawcett, Robert Pattinson as his companion explorer, Henry Costin, and Sienna Miller plays Fawcett’s wife, Nina.
The film examines the real events behind British explorer Percy Fawcett and his trips to the Amazon in search of an ancient lost city after finding evidence of an advanced civilization. Fawcett rejected the ridicule he was receiving from the majority of the scientific community and continued in his quest, hunting for proof. Sadly, Fawcett and his son disappeared in 1925 while on an expedition.
Getting the film off the ground wasn’t smooth at all – it spent nearly 6 years in development. Initially, Brad Pitt was slated to star as Percy Fawcette while simultaneously producing the film with his company Plan B. In November of 2010, Brad backed out of the lead citing scheduling conflicts, but remained on as a producer. Benedict Cumberbatch took over for Pitt in September of 2013, but in February of 2015, he too called it quits and was replaced by Hunnam. The trailer paints an interesting picture, the cinematics are on point, and the period piece aspects feel genuine. We can’t wait to unravel the mystery of Z.
