Cristiano Ronaldo Was Honored With A Statue – And It Will Give You Nightmares
Cristiano Ronaldo has been at the top of the football world for many years and his only competition for the billing of best player in the world is Argentina’s Lionel Messi. For all of his accomplishments, he’s considered a hero in many parts of the world, but none more so than his home country of Portugal.
Just recently, he’s been honored with the renaming of an airport in his native land, the Madeira Islands. Madeira Airport is now officially known as Cristiano Ronaldo Airport (or Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo). To celebrate the occasion, a bronze statue of Ronaldo’s head was unveiled at the airport in question and – oh my god – it cannot be unseen. I’m pretty sure the Internet had a collective #facepalm moment, but once that passed, everyone immediately took to Twitter to let the roasting begin.

For a very handsome man, Ronaldo has had some appalling luck with statue-makers pic.twitter.com/M74YEDng4c

The sculptor was Emanuel Santos, but he still defended his work. He stated that it’s impossible to please everyone and that it’s a matter of taste. He went on to say that he spoke with Ronaldo about the end result and Ronaldo was fine with it. Well, he may have been fine with it before, but after the Internet’s Photoshop treatment, he may be having second thoughts.
