Lonzo Ball’s Brother Arrested In China For Shoplifting
Lonzo Ball’s brother, LiAngelo, along with UCLA teammates Jalen Hill and Cody Riley were suspected of shoplifting from a shop in in Hangzhou, China, on November 7th. All three of theme were arrested. They were suspecting in stealing from a Louis Vuitton store – for sunglasses no less. The store was located near the UCLA team hotel where members were staying before the team was expected to head to Shanghai.
LA Laker rookie Lonzo Ball hadn’t spoken to his brother after his arrest following the release of the news, but he knows his family was around to handle the situation. LaVar, the outgoing father of the Ball family basketball players, was in China with his wife Tina, and son LaMelo to watch UCLA take on Georgia Tech.
Recently, new evidence in the form of surveillance footage is apparently available of the three accused played shoplifting from three stores in a shopping center. The three are still in China as the investigation continues. Probably not a good idea to shoplift in another country – especially China. Conviction rates are exceptionally high for shoplifting offenses (up to 99%) and the penalties are often stiff. This means the players could be facing to 10 years in jail.
