Yes, you read the headline correctly, your eyes and mind are not deceiving you! Your mobile data bills are sure to decrease in the coming months and nothing will be happier than your wallet. News has come out that media giant Netflix has finally answered the hopes and prayers of its most loyal subscribers. For now, the mode will only be accessible via Netflix’s  iOS and Android apps on smartphones and tablets.

You’ll soon notice that a “Download” button will appear that will allow you to save a large assortment of your favorite shows and movies to your device. This way, you can watch them wherever you are without having to search for free Wi-Fi and thus saving you from using your precious data in the process.

As you probably have guessed, due to licensing, the entire catalogue of media Netflix has to offer won’t be available to view offline just yet. Understandably, the company has chosen to only allow a handful of select original shows and films along with a few licensed properties for download.

When you select an available show, next to the play button for an episode, there will be a download button. Also, there is a seperate “Available for Download” menu where you can see all the titles that are currently offered for offline viewing.

And for once, Netflix wasn’t first to market; Amazon Prime members had access to a similar feature back in September of 2015.

Narcos, Stranger Things, Orange Is The New Black, and the newly added The Crown series are all viewable offline and many more titles are expected to be added in the near future.
