Arin Spits / May 18, 2017

Fans of Arrested Development will love this news! Netflix has confirmed that Season 5 of the cult comedy classic is set to return on the streaming giant’s platform. Not only that, the entire cast will be making their return.

Get ready for more Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Bateman, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, and Tony Hale as their new episodes are set to air in 2018. Just a week ago, Bateman sent out a tweet that said he just closed a deal to he’ll be starring in new episodes of the show.

Many of you already know, but Arrested Development won an Emmy in 2004 for being the best comedy series around. It ran on FOX from 2003 to 2006 originally, but was brought back for season 4 by Netflix in May of 2013. The cast reassembled for the 15 episode run that time as well.

The show has been named to the All-TIME 100 TV Shows by Time in 2007 and IGN named the show the funniest show of all time. Despite receiving numerous awards over its time on the air, the series was plagued by low viewership and ratings on Fox’s network, thus canceling the show in 2006. Thanks to the strength of streaming services these days, many classics are able to get a shot at second life. Just look at Fuller House.
