Power Rangers Just Found Their Alpha 5

Steve Porter / October 17, 2016

On the original Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers television show, Richard Horvitz voiced one of the most lovable characters in the series, Alpha 5.

Alpha 5 was the robot assistant who resided at the Rangers’ Command Center with Zordon. He’s most remembered for his distinct appearance, having a golden flying saucer with a visor for his head and the iconic Power Rangers lightning bolt on his chest.

With the Power Rangers reboot set to arrive in 2017, the production has finally found a voice for the beloved robot and made the announcement by sending out the following tweet.

Bill Hader, the Saturday Night Live alum, joins a cast that already includes stars like Elizabeth Banks (Rita Repulsa) and Bryan Cranston (Zordon). The Rangers will be played by Ludi Lin, Becky G. (aka Rebbeca Marie Gomez), RJ Cyler, Dacre Montgomery, and Naomi Scott.

The push for the movie is only getting stronger as just a few days earlier, the production teased the Rangers with their zords.

The movie is set for release on March 24, 2017, so they’re doing a pretty good job of keeping the excitement going. Lionsgate also plans to release the first trailer of the movie at the Power Rangers panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 8th.

Can Hadar replicate Alpha’s famous, “Aye-yi-yi-yi-yi!” line? We’ll have to wait and find out!
