The Chainsmokers Have New Song With Coldplay

Shelby Chau / February 23, 2017

The American DJ duo just pumped out another hot new track ‘Something Just Like This’, and this time they teamed up with Coldplay. The new upbeat song carries the familiar voice of Coldplay front-man, Chris Martin, and the really familiar Chainsmokers influence with the rhythm and synth.

The duo has recently been on a tear releasing hit after hit, with ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ featuring Daya, then ‘Inside Out’ featuring Charlee, then ‘Closer’ featuring Halsey. Later in 2016, they released ‘All We Know’ featuring Phoebe Ryan, and last month released ‘Paris’ which is killing it on the charts.

It’s exciting to get a collaboration with a big, internationally known group, like Coldplay on this new song. The song is a nice track, and it’s going to blow up on the radio, but it also has all the elements of The Chainsmoker’s other hit songs, sounding a lot like ‘Closer’ and ‘Roses’ featuring ROZES especially.

It has the familiar mellow and simplistic intro, the expected build ups, and the common beat drop with the main tag line repeated over and over during the chorus. I’m a fan of The Chainsmokers, but their songs are getting kinda predictable, and are sounding very similar.

The Chainsmokers are set to release ‘Memories… Do Not Open’, their debut studio album in April this year, but hopefully they’ll be creating some fresh new stuff with some other awesome collaborators, and not something just like this.
