The New Valerian Trailer is Out of This World

The new movie trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is out and it’s totally out of this world.

Set in the 28th Century, our two heroes Valerian and Laureline are on a mission to protect Alpha, an incredible metropolis made up of species from across the universe who have for centuries, shared intelligence and knowledge with each other, from an unknown dark threat. Now, it’s up to the two special operatives to save the universe.


The trailer is visually captivating with beautiful landscapes, tons of different species, and some remarkable action scenes. The breathtaking depth of the City of a Thousand Planets is definitely going to be exciting to see.

The film stars Dane DeHaan who plays Valerian, who you might recognize as Harry Osborn from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), and Cara Delevingne, who played Enchantress from Suicide Squad (2016). From the trailer you might also recognize Ethan Hawke who plays Jolly the Pimp, and everyone’s favorite Barbadian singer, Rihanna, who plays a character named Bubble.


The sci-fi action film is actually based on the comics series, Valérian and Laureline. This French comics series had its first publication came out in 1967, and its final instalment came out in 2010. The series is a mix between space opera and plots of time travel and it has become a huge hit in European comics and popular culture.

It’s also said that some of its original designs and concepts in the comics, have influenced the likes of The Fifth Element, and the Star Wars saga.


The Luc Besson directed film is set to be released on July 21, 2017.
