Thor Faces Off Against The Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

Shelby Chau / April 10, 2017

Monday wasn’t so bad, because we got the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok and it looks like a lot of fun!

It might not be hammer time, but the awesome first look of the upcoming Thor film is full of really cool scenes, familiar faces, new haircuts, and one epic gladiator-style battle for the ages. We see Hela destroy Mjölnir, Thor’s hammer, pretty easily too, so she’s clearly a very, very powerful villain.

The plot of Thor: Ragnarok is, without his hammer, Thor is captured, and he must defeat the Hulk in a gladiator style battle in order to save his home world Asgard from Hela, the Asgardian goddess of death.

The film stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tim Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, and the rest of the cast includes Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins. Who we don’t see in this trailer is Doctor Strange, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who is also set to appear in the film.
Thor: Ragnarok is the third Thor film, taking place after Thor (2011) and Thor: The Dark World (2013). It’s also the 17th film in the entire set up of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, set right after Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).

Set to Led Zeppelin’s pumping ‘Immigrant Song’, this trailer goes from dark and full of despair to very colourful and Guardians of the Galaxy-esque. From the style of the font, to the ships, it gives a very similar look and feel to the Guardians franchise, which will come out in less than a month.

The Taika Waititi directed movie is set to hit theaters on November 3, 2017.
