Universal Parks To Open Nintendo-Themed Expansions

Shelby Chau / December 1, 2016

The mystery block has finally been revealed! Universal Parks will be getting Nintendo-themed expansions as a partnership between Universal Parks and Nintendo.

With this next great idea, the hope is to bring these iconic video games to life, in an interactive, expansive and innovative Nintendo-themed World.

Nintendo expansions will be created at Universal Orlando Resort, Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Studios Japan featuring themed attractions, rides, shops and restaurants.

The creators and visionaries intend the attractions to be enjoyed by people of all ages, regardless of how much or how little video game experience or knowledge.

These new Nintendo-themed worlds will be bringing our favorite Nintendo characters and adventures to life at the Universal theme parks. No characters, apart from Mario, have been confirmed, but it’s extremely likely there will be a Super Mario World for guests to explore.

Here you can watch Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto and Universal Creative’s Mark Woodbury talk about the exciting partnership and their vision for these new expansions.

Planning is already in the works and the different parks are set to open within the next several years. It’s also said that the Osaka location should be opened by 2020, perfectly timed for Japan to host the 2020 Summer Olympics.

Universal Parks also have other themed attractions and expansions including The Simpsons and Harry Potter.
