‘Veronica Mars’ Revival Starring Kirsten Bell in the Works on Hulu

Diana Rolland / August 23, 2018

Kirsten Bell might return to the role that launched her career! According to reports, Hulu is considering a Veronica Mars revival starring Kirsten Bell from the series’ original creator and showrunner, Rob Thomas.

This is a startling development for Kirsten Bell, who is currently starring on NBC’s The Good Place as it enters its third season. Bell is a prolific actress who’s played a winsome string of roles on film and television, including the charming voice of Anna in Disney’s Frozen AND sassy scene-stealing turns in Bad Moms and A Bad Moms Christmas. Bell first played with audience expectations by contrasting her petite size with a bad attitude and natural ferocity on Veronica Mars. She played the title role as a high school sleuth tutored by her father, a P.I., while investigating the murder of her best friend.

The show originally aired from 2004 to 2007, featuring Kirsten Bell as the titular pint-sized sleuth, Percy Daggs III as her best friend Wallace Fennel, Jason Dohring as brooding love interest Logan Echolls, and Enrico Colantoni as her exasperated but loving father. The show was a cult hit and actually received final instalment buoyed by dedicated fans in 2014—seven years after the show was first cancelled. The Veronica Mars movie was funded by fans to the record-breaking tune of $5.7 million on Kickstarter. The show was ahead of the curve, anticipated more fan-driven reboots and revivals to come.

Now, another revival is in the works between studio Warner Bros. and Hulu that will secure Kirsten Bell and Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, 90210, iZombie) despite her commitment to The Good Place. This might be the show’s third comeback.
