Young Sheldon To Get ‘Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff

Shelby Chau / March 16, 2017

Everyone who watches The Big Bang Theory knows about the lovable, yet socially-awkward genius, that is Sheldon Cooper. Played by actor Jim Parsons, Sheldon is arguably the main star of the show. Sheldon is currently working at Caltech as a theoretical physicist and in a relationship with Amy Farrah Fowler. His overall lack of social skills and inability to recognize sarcasm and humor has made him into one of the show’s iconic stars.

The new series, Young Sheldon, is – as you may have guessed – going to focus on the character’s early years. It will take place in Texas as the 9-year old prodigy lives with his family and attends high school. Although no details have been announced yet, his family members that should get some air time will probably include Missy, his fraternal twin sister, and his mother, Mary. I don’t want to say for sure, but there has to be a character for his beloved “Meemaw.”

Young Sheldon will be played by Iain Armitage who has already appeared on shows like Big Little Lies and Steve Harvey’s Big Shots while Jim Parsons is set to narrate. The series was created by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory co-creator) along with Steven Molaro.

It is scheduled to air on CBS, however, the exact premiere date is still unknown. What do you think? Will you tune in?
